With a new month, we drew our September dates from the Date Night Jar. Our at home planned date for September was to make homemade pizza together. Labor Day weekend we were pretty busy both Saturday and Monday, but Sunday was completely open after church so we decided to make homemade pizza for dinner on Sunday. And we decided to include our little helper with us. I love the idea of having Cooper in the kitchen learning to help, but it's not usually possible because he's not the most helpful ;) So we thought with both of us, it was a good chance to let him help a little.
We made 2 different kinds of pizza. I have been trying to eat less carbs lately, so I decided to try out a chicken crust pizza (which I actually really liked!) and then a regular crust pizza for the boys. Cooper helped mix up the crust-- he loves spoons and loves stirring.
Then they spread out their pizza crust and Cooper helped pat it down.
I thought I had pizza sauce, but I couldn't find it. So we improvised with this "recipe" for adding a few spices to a can of tomato sauce. Cooper loved stirring that together with David's help. And we didn't get any pictures, but he mostly loved eating the sauce-- he just dipped his spoon in and took several bites of the sauce while we prepared it all.
We topped them with cheese, sausage and pepperoni and here they are fresh out of the oven.
Then we dug in and enjoyed dinner together as a family!
We rarely ever cook together, so it was fun all being in the kitchen together and a slow-paced evening to get dinner ready as a family. And the pizzas all turned out very delicious!

I might have to “steal” your date night jar ideas...I love that you have the categories of planning vs. not!
