What's Up Wednesday: August 2019

, What’s Up Wednesday {08.28.19}
Well since blogging has been pretty non-existent this month, thought I'd give a little update via What's Up Wednesday.

What we're eating
A friend recently told me about this Philly cheesesteak casserole that she had made and loved.  Philly cheesesteaks are one of David's go-to lunches so I thought I'd try it out this week and we all loved it!  We also have been doing lots of ice cream to get through these hot August days!

What I'm reminiscing about
We are back in house-buying mode and are set to close on our new house in September, which is exactly 5 years after we bought our first house, so I cannot help but think about that time when we were first moving into a house and getting it all set up.  Things are definitely different now, but still a lot of excitement to be settled for Fall!

What I'm loving
Cooper and I start Mothers Day Out next week, but I have training this week so we were up there yesterday.  As I was getting ready to go he gathered up his backpack, lunchbox, and nap mat and carried them all over the house.  I thought he looked so precious and I love that he's so excited about school!

What we've been up to
House paperwork, prep for Mothers Day Out, promotion at church and training new volunteers, healing from surgery by watching lots of Mickey Mouse.  Cooper had his follow up with his surgeon this week and finally got his stitches out, so seems like he's pretty much recovered which is a huge relief heading into our Fall schedule!

What I'm excited about
Our new house!  It really seems like it's all going to go through and we are just so grateful for the timing and the house that we've found.  I'm excited about the space and have so many ideas for it, so I'm just trying not to get carried away with wanting to buy things for it!

What I'm watching/reading
Image result for American Ninja Warrior
I got sucked in to Bachelor in Paradise this season after a watch party with some friends.  We're also enjoying American Ninja Warrior like we do every summer.  Cooper is really into it, so we usually watch it in short segments between dinner and bedtime-- he loves cheering everyone on and watching him get so excited about them doing the obstacles is really fun.  And I just started reading the book for my next book club and so far I'm enjoying it.  I've also been going through Jen Wilkin's In His Image and am working to finish that up before my Fall Bible Study picks up.

What I'm listening to
Podcasts and podcasts and podcasts.  Mixed in with some Daniel Tiger soundtracks and Yancy's Little Praise Party.  I also made a worship playlist on Amazon music that I listen to a lot and Cooper loves it and recently started asking "is this my music" so I told him yes and now when he hears any of the worship songs he gets really excited and says "that's my music!"

What I'm working on
We finally got through promotion Sunday at church and recruiting and training all of our volunteers, so now my focus is on getting my room ready for our Mothers Day Out Program.  I'm hoping tomorrow my co-teacher and I will have good time to talk and plan together!  I'm also working on kids curriculum stuff for our MOPS group this year and getting all the supplies ready for that!

What I'm wearing
My friend Lydia recently closed down her LuLaRoe business and sold her inventory at really cheap prices, so I have a new collection of leggings and shirts and tunics that I'm loving right now.  I've also been wearing my glasses a lot lately-- my eyes were really dry last week so I pretty much lived in my glasses... and since I started wearing daily contacts last year I've been more conscious of how many pairs I go through and any day I don't wear them I get another day out of my box of contacts ;)

What else is new
David and I enjoyed 24 hours of kid free time last weekend.  We had planned to go out of town for a few days but with the house stuff and preschool training it was just too much for now.  So we had my mom keep Cooper for a night and enjoyed dinner and dessert out, staying in bed late on a Saturday, and seeing a movie!

And one last picture-- I got Cooper's nap mat out this week to wash it and get it ready for school and he insisted on taking it to his room and napping on it.  He fell asleep almost immediately and stayed asleep longer than he has in a long time, so here's hoping it goes that well when he uses it at school next week!

High Five for Friday!

We're halfway through August and it feels like we're crazy busy and have not much going on all at the same time.  But I'm so thankful for Friday, so thought I'd do a little High Five for Friday to celebrate the weekend!

One
We kicked off the month with a surgery for Cooper.  He has had a bump below his knee for a while and after watching it for several months and doing some imaging we decided it was best to have it removed.  We decided to do it before all of our Fall activities started up.  Our last 2 weeks have looked a lot like this-- watching Mickey Mouse on TV trying to keep him from injuring himself.  He actually has done pretty well protecting his knee from getting hurt, but we're still cautious and he's now back to his usual energetic running and jumping self, so we still watch some TV each day to have a few moments of stillness.  But I'm grateful that he seems to be pretty much healed now.  We'll go back to the surgeon later this month to have his stitches removed and follow up, but so far so good!

Two
While all of our friends around us are getting back to school, we are enjoying our last couple of weeks of a free schedule.  So in between trying to recover from his surgery we've been going to story time and the library and another trip for peach ice cream at Ham Orchards.

Three
I am excited (and a little overwhelmed) by all of our activities starting up soon!  This year we will be continuing with MOPS and I changed roles to coordinate the kids' curriculum-- I'm excited about it but it involves a lot of prep work during the summer so I've been busy working on that!  I also am going to be teaching at a Mothers Day Out 2 days a week where Cooper will attend the 2 year old class.  And we will continue our Bible Study once a week.  I'm also switching service times for my preschool coordinator job at my church so I'm in the midst of training the person who is taking over my hour while also working on promotion for all the kids and our new volunteer schedule.  I'm so thankful for all we're involved in and really looking forward to it all, but it's a lot of different roles to juggle and I'm just trying to stay on top of it all.

Four
I am so excited to be on the launch team for the new Risen Motherhood book.  I found their podcast around the time Cooper was born and it has been such an encouragement.  This is one of the pages from the book and I feel like this sums up what I love about their ministry-- they do a great job of relating all things to the gospel.  I've started the book and am loving it so far-- full review to come!

Five
We are back in the craziness of house hunting.  We had thought we might wait a little while to look, but I couldn't help myself from looking at what was available.  So we found some things we really liked and decided to start really looking into them.  We have a house under contract right now and are in the inspection and negotiation process-- so far it has been a good experience, just waiting and praying for all the next steps!

Happy Friday!
