One thing we thought would be fun this summer is visiting a Farmers Market. We actually have one close to our neighborhood that David and I have been to, but we've never taken Cooper. But then I saw that the Dallas Farmers Market was having a Watermelon Festival with some extra kids activities, so we decided to continue our Watermelon Day celebration and check it out.
We started the day off with our usual tradition of breakfast tacos. We tried out a new-to-us taco place on the way to downtown Dallas and it was pretty good.
So much fun exploring with these two.
Cooper's favorite thing of the whole day was the petting zoo. When we walked in the gate and I put him down, he immediately ran up to this baby goat and started petting it.
He also spent a lot of time in this smaller pen with this sheep and goat. He would pet them some but also just watch them. He could have stayed in this area all day, but we finally convinced him to move on.
They have a little water table area and Cooper knew just what to do. He likes to take all the toys out (like he does at home) but is finally doing a better job of also putting them back in.
We walked the aisles of the market and found lots of good stuff.
We didn't buy much, but we figured a basket of blueberries for our little guy was worth it.
After we explored outside, we headed to the inside part of the market that is open all week. They have several little shops as well as several food places. David and Cooper ate from a place that gets all their meat from one of the butcher shops at the market-- David had pulled pork and Cooper had grilled cheese. I got some food from the taqueria.
After lunch, we walked around a little and David got an ice cream sandwich from one of the ice cream shops. Then we headed home.
Cooper enjoyed a pre-nap snack of some of the blueberries from the market.
It was a great morning at the market! It was such a fun set up and so much to do and see. We will definitely have to go back another weekend.
