Can't believe it's the end of August! Since I haven't posted all month, I thought I'd do a little update via What's Up Wednesday
What we're eating this week
We've been doing lots of eating out this week. We have a whole book of coupons for local restaurants, so we've been trying those out and David has grabbed dinner on his way home both nights this week. When I do cook we've been eating a lot of breakfast for dinner, Mississippi Chicken (Seriously one of my favorite meals and SO EASY), and Pasta
What I'm reminiscing about
This little guy turned FIVE yesterday.
So I've been reminiscing about holding him when he was a teeny tiny baby
And we were talking about ring bearers and flower girls with a friend who is getting married soon and it reminded me of Chase's dance moves at our reception so I had to pull out a few pics from that too
What I'm loving
I'm loving having an open schedule where I can say yes to things easily. After the kids left in June we talked about me going back to work or finding a new job. But we decided for now that I wouldn't and would just focus on other things. I've got a few things that will be starting up weekly in September and I'm looking forward to getting a little bit more of a schedule back. But right now I love that I can be available for things. So when my niece was sick not too long ago, I could spend a day with her at only a moment's notice while her parents had to be at work. Or that I could help my sister-in-law get her rental car situated this week. Or that I can be the flexible one when planning baby showers and hanging out with friends. I often feel guilty that I'm not doing enough or contributing enough, but it's been nice to have an open schedule when things come up
What we've been up to
With the weather being a little more bearable this month, we've been going on lots of walks. I try to walk most mornings before it gets too hot. And there have been several evenings this month where David has walked with me through our neighborhood or to the park.
What I'm dreading
Nothing that I can think of
What I'm working on
This past weekend I helped host a baby shower for my best friend who is having twins this Fall! I had a lot of fun last week working on decorations for the shower and planning things with her sister-in-law. I got lots of use out of my Silhouette cutting out hot air balloons to match our theme. It was a fun morning celebrating and anticipating Eli and Maddie's arrival!
What I'm excited about
Decorating for fall :) I know it's still hot. And summer still lasts for like another month. But I love getting out my fall decorations. And baking with pumpkin. I even made a few new things yesterday to add some football fun to our Fall decor. I've been loving making crafts from our old fence posts, so I cut up and sanded these blocks to add some Baylor and OU love.
What I'm watching/reading
My friend Jill recommended The Lunar Chronicles to me and lent me the first book. I'm now on book 3 and really enjoying them! They are young adult fiction, but a fun and easy read.
I'm also reading through Tim Keller's The Meaning of Marriage with a few girls from our Community Group and we meet each week and talk about it together
What I'm listening to
In addition to the Podcasts I mentioned in June, I've added a few more that I listen to regularly.
The Popcast is really fun and funny. They talk about all kinds of pop culture things. David and I listened to several episodes on our drive to and from Arkansas and I listen to episodes on my daily walks
I've also been listening to Glorious in the Mundane with Christy Nockels. She just started her podcast a few months ago and I've enjoyed listening to her story as well as her interviews with other guests
What I'm wearing
As previously discussed, I don't have a lot of a schedule. So most days I wear shorts and a t-shirt that I've gone walking in. Or pajamas. I still wear lots of dresses when I go out during the week because they are easy, cool and comfortable
What I'm doing this weekend
We have a very low key weekend ahead of us. The main plan is to watch a lot of college football as it kicks off this week!
What I'm looking forward to next month
A whole week of vacation with my hubby! We're spending time in Boston, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New York. Looking forward to some baseball, sightseeing and hopefully some fall foliage! We've been talking about going to Boston for so long and I'm excited it's almost here!
